Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Settle app and website (settle.baby). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using Settle, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

Settle is operated by a UK-based company ("Settle," "we," "us," or "our"). Our app is available on the Apple App Store. Our website is available at settle.baby.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or legal guardian to create a Settle account. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that you have the authority to consent to the processing of data about any child whose information you enter into the app.

Settle is intended for use in the United Kingdom. If you access the app from outside the UK, you are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with your local laws.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please use a strong password and do not share your login details.

You may invite additional caregivers (such as a partner, family member, or nanny) to your family account. Each caregiver must agree to these Terms before accessing the app. You are responsible for ensuring that any caregiver you invite is an appropriate person to have access to your family's data.

4. The service — what Settle provides

Settle provides tools to help parents track and understand their baby's sleep, feeding, and development. This includes:

  • Sleep, feed, and nappy logging and timers.
  • Wake window predictions and schedule recommendations.
  • AI-powered sleep coaching conversations (Pro tier).
  • Weekly sleep stories and summaries.
  • Developmental milestone tracking.
  • Reports and data export (Pro tier).

Settle is an informational and educational tool. It is not a medical service, and nothing in the app constitutes medical advice. Please see our Disclaimer for full details.

5. Subscription and pricing

Free tier

Settle offers a free tier that includes sleep, feed, and nappy logging, milestone tracking, health logging, daily timeline, reports, and multi-caregiver sync for one child.

Newborn companion (free)

Parents of newborns (babies under 12 weeks) have free access to AI companionship features during the newborn period. This access is automatically provided and does not require a Pro subscription.

Pro subscription

Pro features — including the AI Sleep Coach, optimal wake window predictions, schedule creator, multiple children, growth charts, and data export — require a paid Pro subscription. Pro is available at:

  • £5.99 per month
  • £39.99 per year (saving approximately 44% versus monthly)

Prices are displayed in the app at the point of purchase and may vary by region. All prices include VAT where applicable.

Free trial

We may offer a 7-day free trial for Pro. If you start a trial, your subscription will automatically begin at the end of the trial period at the stated price unless you cancel beforehand.

Auto-renewal

Your Pro subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) until you cancel. Renewal charges are taken via your Apple ID account. You will not receive a separate renewal reminder from Settle — Apple will charge you according to the subscription terms you agreed to at purchase.

How to cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time through iPhone Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have Pro access until the period ends. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be made to Apple through their standard refund process at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not have the ability to issue refunds directly.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable UK consumer protection law.

6. AI coaching — limitations and your responsibilities

The AI Sleep Coach feature uses artificial intelligence to provide sleep-related guidance. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI-generated responses are informational only and do not constitute medical or professional clinical advice.
  • The AI does not retain memory between separate sessions unless context is explicitly provided through your logs.
  • AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your specific situation.
  • You should always apply your own parental judgement. If an AI-generated suggestion does not feel right for your baby, do not follow it.
  • The AI is not a substitute for your GP, health visitor, or a qualified sleep consultant.

You must not attempt to use the AI coach to obtain medical diagnoses, medication guidance, or advice that falls outside the scope of everyday baby sleep and routine. The AI is programmed to decline such requests and to direct you to appropriate professionals.

You are responsible for the information you share with the AI. Please do not share sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary to receive sleep guidance.

7. Acceptable use

You agree to use Settle only for its intended purpose — tracking and improving your baby's sleep, feeding, and wellbeing. You agree not to:

  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the app, its servers, or our systems.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app.
  • Attempt to manipulate or misuse the AI coach (including attempting to override its safety guidelines).
  • Use the app to collect, store, or transmit data about individuals without their knowledge or consent.
  • Reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit any part of the app or its content without our permission.

8. Your content and data

All data you enter into Settle — logs, notes, milestone observations — remains yours. We do not claim any ownership over your data.

By using the app, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and use your data solely for the purpose of providing the Settle service to you. We do not use your data to train AI models or for advertising.

You can export or delete your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data retention and your rights.

9. Intellectual property

All intellectual property in the Settle app — including the software, design, content, AI system architecture, brand name, logo, and any original written content — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by UK and international intellectual property law.

You may use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not reproduce, adapt, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app without our prior written consent.

"Settle" and our logo are our trademarks. You may not use them without our written permission.

10. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to make Settle available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The app may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, third-party service outages (including Anthropic or Supabase), or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the app at any time. We will endeavour to give reasonable notice of significant changes. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and provide a mechanism to export your data.

We may change the features included in the free and Pro tiers over time. If a feature you are paying for is removed, we will notify you and, where appropriate, offer a remedy.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Settle's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to your use of the app is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or £50 if you have not made any payments).

We are not liable for:

  • Indirect, consequential, incidental, or special loss or damage.
  • Loss of data, revenue, profit, or goodwill.
  • Any harm arising from reliance on AI-generated content or sleep guidance.
  • Any failure of third-party services (Anthropic, Supabase, Apple).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Termination

You may close your account at any time from within the app or by contacting us at hello@settle.baby. Closing your account cancels any active subscription and triggers deletion of your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Settle if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we reasonably believe your use of the app poses a risk to others or to our systems. We will give you notice unless doing so is not reasonably practicable.

Sections 8, 9, 11, 13, and 14 of these Terms survive termination.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction.

We would always prefer to resolve any dispute informally first. If you have a concern, please contact us at hello@settle.baby before taking legal action.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. If you continue to use Settle after a change to these Terms, you are agreeing to the updated Terms.

If you do not accept updated Terms, you may close your account before the change takes effect.

15. Third-party services

Settle integrates with third-party services including:

  • Apple App Store — for app distribution and subscription billing.
  • Anthropic — for AI coaching features.
  • Supabase — for secure data storage and sync.

Your use of these services is also subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of these third parties.

16. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and Cookie Policy, form the complete agreement between you and Settle. They supersede all prior agreements or understandings.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remainder of the Terms will continue in full force.
